He's callling him from his iMac. Colbert, "I'm sorry,I don't recognize your name."
Colbert doesn't feel his new title, "Chief of Secrecy" is important enough. Prefers, "Supreme Allied Commander of Secrecy." Or an alternative, "Intergalactic Chancellor."
"Chairman Honeycrisp" is Tim Cook's code name, apparently (says Colbert). I'm going to call Mr. Cook that from now on.
Colbert: "Please get back to work. Because you know what I see when I look at my wrist? My wrist! Chop chop!"
Now Craig Federighi is projecting his presentation from his computer to Apple TV. He's using his Apple Watch as a remote control.
Showing a video of new security badge protocol, which is apparently a combination of secret handshakes and silly walks.
Although it's goofy that Apple has to fill 40 minutes of its showcase event by repeating old news, I have to say that it's filled with good jokes. The Colbert part was great.

Fed: "And that is my quick update on iOS 8 and Yosemite"
Cook: I'd like to talk about iPad. It's the simple and magical device. A unique blend of simplicity and capability.
Now Tim Cook is about to unveil the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3. Let me guess: They're going to have fingerprint readers and the faster A8 chip...
Cook: It has advanced technology just jam-packed on the inside. The tech is jam-packed in this thin and light package you can take with you everywhere and use all day long.
Who ARE all these beautiful "people" in Apple's promotional photos? Do they go to a special school?
Cook: As you look around, iPad is everywhere. It's transforming the way we work and learn and play. It's not surprising that we've sold more iPads in the first 4 years than any product in our history. Over 225 million iPads.
Cook is comparing iPad sales to PC sales. "iPad beats them all." "By a lot."
Cook: More important, iPad is consistently rated highest in satisfaction. iPad Mini Retina has 100% customer satisfaction rating (unclear what the study is here)
In the 12 months, Apple sold more iPads alone than the TOTAL # of computers sold by Lenovo, HP, Dell, or Acer. Yeow.
Cook: At the root of this success, is that we have over 675,000 apps for the iPad.
Cook is, I think, gearing up to show a new even thinner iPad...
Cook: How do you make it better? You do this...
Video... a pencil. Being shaved down by a laser beam.
Looks like the big news about the iPad Air 2 is that it's ... THINNER.
